At year
1854. president of the United States Abracham Lincoln wished to buy
a big area of Indian country. Answer Cijetla head is also one of the
deepest thoughts that are spoken about humans surroundings. These
are his quotes:
"How can you buy or sell the sky, heat the earth? The idea is
foreign. If we do not have fresh air and clarity of the water, how can you buy that? Each part of the land is holy for my people. Every great pine
needle, every sandy shore , every mist in the dark woods, every bug, are in the experience memory of my people. The great water
which runs rapids and rivers is not only water, but the blood of our
ancestors. rivers are our brothers, the food we thirst. The air is expensive
for red man because all live sharing the same breath: animal, tree, man.
And if we need to sell our land you must keep it as a sanctuary, a place
where a white man will be able to taste of the wind that is sweetened
scent of field flowers. If we decide to accept,we will set one condition: a
white man must be treated according to the animals of the land as
according to his brothers. What is man without the animals? If animals
go, man will die from great loneliness of spirit. Whatever happens to the animals, that will happend to the man. All things are connected. Whatever happen to the country, that will happend to the sons of the country. I do not
understand, why is killing bison; why wild horses deprived of freedom,
why is the view of the green hills torn strings that speak? Where are the
forests? No more. Where is the eagle? it flyed away. the end commed to the real life. Now is struggle for survival!"
